there's def a unique kind of grief in seeing how trauma can lead you to develop possessiveness n other unhealthy traits. but, years of deep introspection have rly helped me uninternalise ingrained coping strategies i *had* to build to survive
regardless tho, a better state of mind doesn't absolve accountability or excuse present behaviour, even as a work in progress. i still have a whole museum of room to improve, but i'll never instrumentalise my trauma or past to validate a cognitive distortion or justify interpersonal misconduct
clinical terminology shouldn't be co-opted to bypass liability. therapeutic weaponisation rarely seeks to comprehend the etiology of a defence mechanism to explain behaviour; instead, it is employed to poorly rationalise it. using trauma as an emotional shield is just fundamentally manipulative.
tbh breaking away from old defence mechanisms is a constant progress and i couldn't do it without a safe space. ty elera for helping me grow n improve each day as a person faster than i ever could alone. u are honestly the best girlfriend a girl could ever ask for aqdjnlfsjgfwüeabrhklfbrswaeçx ilysm
