i disdain the categorisation 'person of colour', and i feel properly annoyed with myself for using it often, even tho how much it buggered me a lot
it feels icky to me that ppl consistently homogenise highly nuanced socioeconomic disparities into a singular monolithic label that acts like a reductive blanket categorisation that lumps distinct minority demographics together by casting them all as inherently disadvantaged
this kinda intellectual laziness completely derails social progress. collapsing complex and entirely distinct populations into a cheap narrative of uniform, permanent victimhood solely to contrast them against whiteness provides little to no benefit to anybody except the elite
a shallow buzzword that chases an abstract definition of struggle isn't worth it if your individual socioeconomic issues remain completely overlooked. u'll just come up with useless, generic solutions that fail to address anything just bc ppl love the convenience of inaccurate broad statistics
